Janoš Butinar ha sentito il desiderio di diventare un medico veterinario all'età di cinque anni e in seguito lo ha realizzato. Ha lavorato per 25 anni presso la Facoltà di Medicina Veterinaria di Lubiana, dove ha ottenuto il titolo di professore ordinario nel 2008. Ha completato la sua formazione specialistica presso il Collegio Europeo di Chirurgia Veterinaria nel Regno Unito presso il Queen Mother Veterinary Teaching Hospital di Cambridge sotto la guida del Prof. White e presso la Facoltà di Medicina Veterinaria di Utrecht sotto la guida dei Proff. Van Sluijs e Kirpensteijn, ottenendo il diritto a sostenere l'esame di specializzazione europeo.
He specialized mainly in oncological and reconstructive surgery. He acquired additional knowledge from the world-renowned abdominal surgeon Eldar M. Gadžijev, especially in abdominal surgery.
Prof. dr. Butinar is an active member of the European Association of Veterinary Oncologists (ESVONC). He devotes a lot of time to understanding the basic principles of tumor biology, actively supports clinical research and the application of new knowledge in this field with the aim of improving diagnostics and the choice of therapy for patients with tumor diseases.
He is the hospital's founder and serves as the professional leader of the team of veterinarians and associates at the Animal Hospital Postojna. Leveraging his knowledge and experience, along with the assistance of friends who are renowned experts from around the globe, he earnestly aims to cultivate an exceptional professional staff dedicated to the well-being of animals and their owners.
