He is the founder of the Hospital and the professional leader of the team of veterinarians and associates of the Animal Hospital Postojna.
Janoš Butinar aspired to become an animal doctor at the age of five and later realized his dream. He dedicated 25 years to working at the Veterinary Faculty in Ljubljana, where he attained the title of full professor in 2008. He underwent specialist training at the European College of Veterinary Surgery in the United Kingdom, specifically at the Queen Mother Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Cambridge under the guidance of Prof. White, and at the Veterinary Faculty in Utrecht under the supervision of Prof. Van Sluijs and Prof. Kirpensteijn. This training enabled him to qualify for the European specialist exam.


He specialized mainly in oncological and reconstructive surgery. He acquired additional knowledge from the world-renowned abdominal surgeon Eldar M. Gadžijev, especially in abdominal surgery.
Prof. dr. Butinar is an active member of the European Association of Veterinary Oncologists (ESVONC). He devotes a lot of time to understanding the basic principles of tumor biology, actively supports clinical research and the application of new knowledge in this field with the aim of improving diagnostics and the choice of therapy for patients with tumor diseases.
He is the hospital's founder and serves as the professional leader of the team of veterinarians and associates at the Animal Hospital Postojna. Leveraging his knowledge and experience, along with the assistance of friends who are renowned experts from around the globe, he earnestly aims to cultivate an exceptional professional staff dedicated to the well-being of animals and their owners.
