Ana Rejec graduated from the Veterinary Faculty of the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia in 2006. During her studies, she received an award (Prešernova nagrada) for her undergraduate research project under the mentorship of Prof. Janoš Butinar. After completing her degree, she worked at the Small Animal Clinic of the Veterinary Faculty of Ljubljana. Ana has been a member of a team of co-workers of Animal Hospital Postojna since 2007 and became a co-owner of the company in 2014. In addition to performing her clinical duties, Ana continued her post-graduate studies by commencing an official specialisation in oral medicine, dentistry and oral/maxillofacial surgery in 2010 and gained invaluable experiences by visiting European and American specialists. Ana completed an official residency programme in veterinary dentistry and oral-maxillofacial surgery with the European College of Veterinary Dentistry in December 2017.
Being aware of the fact that the profession of a doctor of veterinary medicine is more than clinical work, she enrolled in the doctoral study of Molecular Genetics and Biotechnology at the University of Nova Gorica in 2011 and was focusing on the research of the diagnostic and prognostic value of various biomarkers of inflammatory and tumour disorders of the head and neck in dogs. She was awarded a doctorate in 2015.
At Animal Hospital Postojna, she is a part of the oral medicine-maxillofacial surgery team. She has a clinical and research interest in the pathogenesis and systemic effects of inflammatory and neoplastic diseases of the head and neck in dogs and cats. She is continuously presenting research findings at scientific meetings and publishing in scientific journals.
